First I'd like to remind you that I have an auction going on on Ebay that will end soon. It's for the box I made with Wee Stamps Maya and the amount I sell the box for minus the costs for Ebay and/or Paypal will go to KiKa. a Dutch charity foundation that brings in funding solely for research to childhood cancers. You'll find that auction HERE.
But of course I also have a new project to show you guys today. This project was sort of meant to be. Now this is going to be a bit of a story so you can just skip to the next paragraph if you want :). A week or so ago I was searching Etsy for digital images and I came by an artist named Lee Holland with Lee's Digi Shop on Etsy. I decided that I really liked his or her images (Lee can be both right?) but since I have a new policy for myself that I can only buy an image if I am going to use it right away I decided to remember the artist. Then I came by a blogpost of a Facebook crafting friend Sandra Janssen-van Mourik HERE where she used an image by this same Lee Holland. She had made the pretty project as a design team member for a challenge blog named Love to Create that was sponsored by the same Lee Holland this week and where the theme was "Make it for the kids". Now the same Sandra has had a gorgeous little baby girl named Tessa last December in the period when I was away from Facebook and blogland a lot. Normally I would have made her a small gift or card to congratulate her but I never even noticed. Now this little girl is turning a half a year TODAY! And today is the closing day to enter a project for the challenge! So I decided that this was meant to be. So I decided I had to buy one of Lee Holland's images for a box that was made for little Tessa for her half a year birthday.
I decided to work with Lee Holland's digi Baby Giraffe which you'll find HERE. The pretty papers are Pion Design My Precious Daughter which I bought from Creashop Duymelot except for the strip of dotted paper which isn't that much visible after all the flowers were added (LOL) that strip was a piece of scap paper..
A close up of the cute little Giraffe. As you can see I also stamped on the back, the stamp that I used is no longer for sale unfortunately, it was from Elzybells Stamps that stopped a few years back. I stamped the baby words with antique linnen distress ink and hten went over it again with a wet paper towel to lighten it a little bit. As you can see also pretty frantage on the papers and I hand stitched around the circles again.A side view of the box. As you can see I used some lace along the side of the top of the box. Love this lace by The Ribbon Girl, I'll add the link to it below.
And a little detail pictures of the pretty flowers and stuff :).
And finally a picture of the little pieces used to create the image. Not that much this time.
The Copic Markers that I used on the baby giraffe are:
Light skin: E53, E51, E50, CB
Brown spots: E59, E57, E55, E53
Background: Behind the giraffe R83, R81, R00, R0000, CB and for the floor E44, E42, E40, CB and both also got a layer over that with W3, W1, W0, W00, CB
Materials used:
Image: Baby Giraffe by Lee Holland
Ticket stamp (with birth date): Holiday Ticket Sentiments by Whimsy Stamps
Papers: Pion Design My Precious Daughter (12x12) and piece of scrap paper
Letters: Thickers Chipboard Glitter Letter Stickers Bubblegum
Other: Margaret White Flower Guipure Lace by The Ribbon Girl, Swirls A5 (behind the flowers) and Butterflies A5 by Dutch Doobadoo, Stickles diamond and platinum and frantage.
From Wild Orchid Crafts (they are having a sale at the moment) I've used:
And like I told you in the beginning I'm entering this box into the current challenge at Love to Create which is Make it for the Kids.
That's it! Now here's hoping that Sandra likes the box and to ask Sandra for her address to send it to her :S.
Hope you have a great day everybody! Fathersday here in the Netherlands, we've bbq-d with my parents and my "little" brother yesterday and we'll visit my in laws today.
Hugs!!!
