Shadowbox with Dyanne by Wee Stamps

Hi everybody!!

Today I have a special project to show you. Last April my friend Sylvia Zet and her husband Michal came to visit us in The Netherlands. When she visited us she brought me the most precious gifts, drawings of my children that she made from pictures I had send her over the past years.

This is the picture Sylvia took of them before framing them for me. As you'll be able to see below each of the portraits she made of my children she drew a Wee figure, based on the personality of my kids. So my oldest daughter Dyanne is the dreamy girl with long hair who can spend hours picking flowers. Amy is my laughing curly haired who likes nothing better then to play with somebody else but has a harder time playing on her own. And Leon is my tough guy who likes real guy things like cars and super heroes :). The Wee figure of Leon is actually based on a picture I send Sylvia of Leon sitting in his miniature Ferrari. As you can imagine these gorgeous portraits are up on my living room wall and are never coming of :). But I told Sylvia that the Wee characters she drew were really way to cute to just have as sketches on my living room wall. I for one would love to use them on cards as well. So earlier this month the images Sylvia drew for Dyanne and Amy were released as rubber stamps and a few days ago also as digital images. The image she drew for Leon will be released soon as well.

Anyway, for my birthday Sylvia send me the rubber stamps of Dyanne and Cuddly Ride (or for a link to the digital versions) (which is the name of Amy's image as there already is an Amy character in the Wee Stamps store) and of course I had to ink one up.

Since Dyanne is my oldest I decided to go with her image first. I have to admit that I started out making a card but then when I was halfway done I was so happy with how it was turning out that I decided to decorate a shadowbox (that I have had in my stash for ages) with it instead. The box was a bit to deep so I filled it with a few layers of cardboard first.

A close up of Dyanne. Purple is Dyanne's favorite color so there had to be purple in the image. Her hair was a bit challenging to paper piece but I like how it turned out.

To accentuate the whimsical feeling of the image I used my pretty vine dies from Whimsy Stamps and wanted to just add some random flowers in sort of a swirl around the image. I think Wild Orchid Crafts' sweetheart blossoms come closest to the flowers Sylvia drew in the image but also added some roses and cosmos daisies. A few random placed rhinestones did the finishing touch for me :).

Wee Stamps Sarah with a give away

Hi everybody,

Today I'd like to show you another Christmas card I made. I think this is the second time ever I used my hexagon dies but I wanted to try something new and the pretty Sarah by Wee Stamps (digi/rubber stamp) fitted perfectly into the hexagon die.

The base of the card is just kraft cardstock, with stitches by hand around the edges. I smeared a bit embossing ink on one side of an embossing folder and pressed that on two edges of the cardstock, sprinkled white embossing powder on it, tapped it of and embossed that. I wanted to get this not perfect pattern.

Like I mentioned, the image that I used is the newly released Sarah by Wee Stamps (available as a digital image through Wee Stamps and as a rubber stamp through Whimsy Stamps). I colored her with Copic Markers and 3D paper pieced her (but what else is new ;) ).

For the embellishments I used gorgeous red Trellis roses, a white open rose, pretty red hip rosebuds and one red Christmas berry spray with pine cones (you'll find links below). I still have berries and a cone left so what you see on this card is about 2/3rd of one spray.

Copic Markers used:
Skin: E11, E00, E000, E0000 and a little bit of R20 as a blush
Hair: E53, E50, CB and then when that's dry a bit of E42, E40 where there'd be shadow.
Brown in clothes: E55, E53, E50 and a little bit of W3 (just dots), W1 and W00 (to smear the W3 out) over that in places where there are shadows
Brown little bear: E53, E50, E0000 and over that where there are shadows E44 (just a dot here and there), E42 (tiny bit), and then again E50, E0000 to smear that out
White fur: E50 only a bit here and there, let that dry a bit and then go over that with E40 (just dots), W00 and CB. All the colored markers are just touches as I want it to look white and not grey.
White in dress: same as fur but without the E40.
Red: R29, R27, R24, let that dry completely and then add really small amounts of R89 in darkest places and smear out with R27, R24 and 20. I find that with the first layer dry the R89 will blend better with the R20-colors. If you put the R89 on first and then start with the R29 it's harder to get it to blend perfectly. It is very important to let the first layer dry as the red will easily run out.
Greenish/brownish shade in scarf: E87, E84, E81, W0
Golden color present: E84 (just dots), E81, W00, CB, use the colored markers just a bit, mostly to blend. With diamond stickles over it this is my favorite gold.
Pink parts in bear: R22, R20, R0000
Shadow around the image: (will make the white look more white): W3, W1, W00, CB

Snowflake dancer with give away

Good morning everybody!

Today I'd like to show you a card I made with the newly released Snowflake Dancer by Wee Stamps. This stamp is available as a digital image directly through Wee Stamps and as a rubber stamp through Whimsy Stamps.

I adored the Snowflake Dancer from the second Sylvia showed her to me. I think she's delicate and elegant and I knew right away that I wanted to create a cool card around her. The white cardstock was simply embossed with a Cuttlebug Ice Crystals embossing folder, the strip of blue paper is an old scrap I had from Magnolia and I thought those two would be a lovely setting. I kept the embellishments all white though I did play around with blue flowers but that, for me, took away from the pureness of this card which is what I wanted.

A close up of the fairy, as always colored with Copic Markers, I tried to go for a bit of a distressed look, not to much color. The pretty chipboard star-shapes that I have used are from SisterArt Creation, they don't have a webshop but sell through Facebook. Just click on their photos and if you want to purchase something add a comment below the picture with the chipboard you want. Their chipboards are of a very high quality and I love the shapes. I painted these chipboards with white paint, dusted them with stardust glitter when the paint was still wet and gave them a coat of varnish after they were dry. They sparkle like crazy and I adore them.

And the little pieces the image was made with. I cut out most of the snowflake parts one by one after the rest of the image was done, that's why you see them uncut in this picture.

Simple card for wedding anniversary

Hi everybody,

Today I'd like to show you a (for me) very simple card with one of the Flower Fairies by Wee Stamps.

We had a wedding anniversary to go to and I wanted to give money and to make it a bit more personal give it in a handmade card. But I had very little time to craft so I had to keep it simple. The sentiment is computer generated and the adorable little fairy and the gorgeous Wild Orchid Crafts flowers really do all the work on this card.

And the pretty flowers. I thought the die cut leaves sort of matched the flowers of the fairy.

And the little pieces. As you can see I didn't cut out every single flower on this one and I colored the little leaves under the bouquet on the base layer. Had to win some time that way.

A small gift for a kind neighbor

Hi everybody!

Today I'd like to show you a little gift that I made for my nextdoor neighbor. She has been kind enough to bring me tomatoes from her garden the past weeks and I thought it'd be a nice gesture to give her a little something to let her know that I really appreciate her kindness. In The Netherlands we have a saying "better a good neighbor then a far away friend" and I think that's true and I really appreciate the good neighbors that we have here.

I made a small cablebox using THIS purchased template and filled it with chocolates. I used Polly from Wee Stamps (digital image/rubber stamp) as I think she's perfect for just about every theme. As always she was colored with Copic Markers and completely 3D paper pieced. I decided to go for a red/blue and white color scheme.

The back of the box with a computer generated sentiment that reads Bedankt which means Thank you in Dutch. I love this flower cluster with all these gorgeous flowers from Wild Orchid Crafts. You'll find links to the different flowers below.

Little Posey

Hi Everbody,

I'm back with an image I've been wanting to work with for some time now :). When Sylvia Zet released this image for Wee Stamps I was in my craftless period but I adored it SO much. Hope you like what I did with her as the colors I've used aren't my usual and my card turned out pretty busy :).

Isn't little Posey adorable? She's available as a digi and a rubber stamp. I think she's such a cheerful thing and for me that meant she had to be coloured in bright bold colors, that's why I used the red, orange and yellow. And when I was busy coloring here I decided I wanted a big contrast color so that's where the black came in.

Gift box with Rowan Fairy

Hi everybody!

 

Back yet again :). I started working on the image I'm showing you today months ago and I'm so glad I finally ended up finishing it :). I decorated a cigarbox again using the incredibly pretty Rowan Fairy by Wee Stamps (available as a digi and a rubber stamp).

I have to admit that I love how she turned out. Hope you like it too. Here is a close up.

She is absolutely one of my favorite images by Sylvia until now, so pretty amongst those gorgeous roses by Wild Orchid Crafts.

Wee stamps Daphne

Hello everybody!

First I want to thank you all for your sweet comments both here and on my Facebook page, I loved reading them all and it's so good to be crafting again. I'm back with another project, I decided to do a card for a change LOL. When I first saw Daphne, one of the latest images released by Wee Stamps I knew I wanted to color her with lots of colors because she reminded me of spring. I colored her with Basic Grey Picadilly papers as inspiration but then when it came to putting together the card I had a hard time because this bright and colorful really isn't in my comfort zone. So for me this card is finished... but it needs some getting used to.

Gift box with Wee Stamps Maya

Hello everybody!!!

First to all of you still following me.... thank you SO much for your patience! My last post with a project was way back in August of 2013 and I was convinced that the number of followers to my blog would have been gone to about zero by now but there are still so many of you left! Since the last project that I showed here I haven't crafted at all. Without going in to much detail, somebody very close to my heart was diagnosed with cancer last year and that brought about a negative spiral for me. Crafting had been such a big part of my life and all of a sudden it didn't make sense to spend so much time on making a box or a card. I couldn't find the relaxation or the comfort I normally would feel in working on a project, it just felt pointless. I got some health issues of my own as well. On my birthday last year, November 15th, I visited my doctor and was shocked to see I was at my heaviest ever (except for pregnancies). I decided that things would have to change. I started working out and running and today I'm proud to say I lost 16 kg's and much of my health issues have improved but much more important, I'm delighted to say that the person who was diagnosed with cancer got the news a few weeks back that the cancer is gone! I finally had the desire to craft again. I have received a lot of very sweet messages during the time that I wasn't crafting, I did read them all but didn't reply to all of them and if I haven't replied to your message I want to thank you for sending it. It did mean a lot to read that people missed my work or were worried about me but I didn't always have the energy or words to reply.

Anyway... I'm back with my first project. I'm not going to be active in design teams for the time being (and don't know if I will again) but I do want to spend time crafting again because making this project was a pleasure to do after such a long time. I decided to work with the last gorgeous image created by my incredible friend Sylvia Zet of Wee Stamps. Sylvia has been incredible through my not crafting period. We have had long talks about things that didn't have anything to do with crafting. She didn't once ask me when I was going to create again but kept sending me her gorgeous digi's when they were finished. In fact when I told her I was crafting again she asked me if I was sure I wanted to do that because she rather had me healthy and happy then crafting. Just to Sylvia, thank you so much for being my friend!! This project was made with all the love I had for doing it before and I hope it doesn't disappoint!

Don't you just adore little Maya? She's available as a digital image right now in Sylvia's digi store HERE and she's available as a rubber stamp at Whimsy Stamps HERE. I didn't purchase anything crafty during my period "away" until I found the new solid paper pads from Lili of the Valley in my e-mail a few weeks back. The paper used on this box is from both the solid and the "normal" Always and Forever Paper Pads.

I received these gorgeous materials from both Wild Orchid Crafts and The Ribbon Girl when I was still crafting, I let both companies down with just stopping like I did but finally got to use them (again). And another close up, don't you love the gorgeous frantage? I used Shabby Pink embossing Enamel and golden glitter from one of the kits.

The inside of the box also decorated with the gorgeous paper from the both the solid and the "normal" paper pads of Lili of the Valley's Always and Forever.

Release day at Wee Stamps and Sneak Peak for Whimsy Stamps with sample

Hi everybody,

I don't know what the weather is like in your part of the world but in The Netherlands it's VERY hot. As I'm typing this I'm melting, not optimal weather for crafting in my opinion. But I do have a project done :).

I decided to use some very old design paper by My Minds Eye as a base for this project. The line goes back to 2008 so you won't be able to find it in stores but it's very pretty and the pattern is actually glittery. I paired the paper with white and brownish red cardstock and gorgeous ivory and deep red flowers from Wild Orchid Crafts. The pretty feathers were bought especially to go with this Indian lady, they are feathers of a pheasant and I bought them in a Dutch store HERE. I'm not sure where I got the berry like flower. The pearls are from Flourish with a Bling the gorgeous die is of course Spellbinder and I've used cheesecloth and handstiches. The sentiment was computer generated and is a text from the Disney movie Pocahontas. I thought this box would make a very pretty box to keep pencils or brushes in and I love that song.

The side of the box. This was a cigar box that I've sended, painted white and then distressed with Frayed Burlap paint and Inka Golden paint (love the effect of that). The legs are Tim Holtz but I've spraypainted them with blog and gold to match the lock and the lock was bought at a craft fair and I have no idea what store sold them but they had a very good prize and I wish I had bought more :).

A close up of pretty Wyanet, her name actually means Beautiful in the Native American language :). I colored her with Copic Markers and I actually kept track of the markers for you :):
Hair, shoes and bottom parts of feathers: W9, W7, E77, E74
Face: E11, E00, E000, E0000 and R20 for her cheeks
Cream colored parts of clothes: E51, E50, E0000, W3, W1, W00, CB
Sand colored parts of feathers: E53, E51, E50, E0000
Brown colored parts of clothes: E59, E57, E55, E53
Red accents: R59, R56 (the red beads are Christmas Red liquid pearls with a coating of R59 when they were dry)
Golden accents and butterflies: E34, YR23, YR21, YR20
Rocks: E27, E15, E13, E11, E01
Shadows: W3, W1, W0, W00, CB
