Bunny with flowers on a birthday gift-box

Hi everybody,

Today I'd like to share a project with you that I created as a gift for my sister in law who's birthday is in a few days (I don't think she ever visits my blog so I should be able to post it here).

The box that I used (you'll see that it's a box in a few pictures) is actually a tea-box and the inside has three compartments but I'll fill it with other things then tea. The adorable image that I used is Bunny with Flowers by Crissy Armstrong. It's an image I have adored from the moment I first saw it and this is the first time I used it but I'm very sorry to say that it's no longer available. It was a digital image available from Whimsy Stamps but Whimsy Stamps no longer sells digital images because of new EU tax regulations. I hope you don't mind that I still used it though as I adore the image! I had to use spring colors for this project :) and it was a perfect excuse to use one of these adorable dies that my friend Tammy Cunliffe send me that she designed herself for Little Darlings Rubber Stamps. LOVE these flowers Tammy, can't wait to do a project with all of the dies from your fabulous set.

And a close up of one of the gorgeous flower clusters with fabulous Wild Orchid Crafts Flowers and of course those darling little flowers that I cut with Tammy's die with self adhesive rhinestones in the middle. The leaves that I used are from the tulips that I used in the other flower cluster.

Well rounded thank you

Hi everybody,

Two cards in two days! That's what you get when there's rainy weather and the kids have their summer break :). My card today is completely different from my card yesterday. Where yesterday my card was very bold in colors today my card is more romantic.

The image I used is called Well Rounded Elephant by Crissy Armstrong for Whimsy Stamps. This stamp was also released in the period that I wasn't crafting but had to order it because I think it's so super cute! The flowers and leaves are all Wild Orchid Crafts and I adore these colors (links below). The fabulous thank you chipboard shape I bought from Sister Art Creation, two sisters, one in Germany and the other in Indonesia who sell the most fabulous quality of chipboard. They don't have a store yet but sell through Ebay. You'll find their Facebook page HERE. But be warned, they have a fabulous selection.

As always the image was colored with Copic Markers and 3D paper pieced. I'm still in doubt if I should have paper pieced the head like I did but I wanted to give him blushing cheeks that stood out. I think I'll try this image with a "flatter" face as well.

Happy birthday to my father in law!

Hi everybody!!

Today is the birthday of my father in law, Leo van der Veer, we are celebrating together outdoors with pancakes as a finish so it promises to be a fabulous day.... except that it's starting to rain here while I type but I'm hoping this will pass and then it'll be a gorgeous day.

For the birthdays of both my in laws (my mum in laws birthday was two months ago) we are taking them on a trip in the next few weeks. Because I did want to bring him something for his birthday I decorated the lid of this little box for him and we are going to give that filled with chocolaty goodness :).

The fabulous cow image is a new one by Crissy Armstrong for Whimsy Stamps. It's called You Moove Me and I loved coloring it. The fabulous letters are new stamps by Whimsy Stamps as well, these are by Raindrop Echo Designs and are called Just My Type. The letters can be cut with a matching die from a new Tiny Shapes Die Set but I have to admit I used my Nestabilities for the job. The stars were cut with Stacking Stars Die-Namics dies and the circles and scalloped circle with Nestabilities again. Lots of hand stitching and Frayed Burlap distress ink and Black Diamond Stickles finish the job. The design paper is Maja Design Life in the Country combined with white, black and red cardstock.

Whimsy February Showcase day 7 with Cradled by the Moon

Hello and welcome to Day 7 of Whimsy Stamps February Rubber & Die Release Showcase!

Today I have a little box to show you that I decorated with Crissy Armstrong's Cradled by the Moon.

Somehow this picture seems a little blurry but I hope that when you click it you will see it really isn't. Isn't this image absolutely adorable? I have created a box with on both sides a shape cut out with the Whimsy Stamps' Double Scalloped Square Doily Die. There are actually two of these shapes glued together on both sides to make the box, and especially the doily part, a little more sturdy. The inner box is 6,5x6,5x2,7 cm's. The ribbon on top of the box is Pink Petal Vanilla Latte Ribbon, also from Whimsy Stamps as are the Moon and Star charm and the Baker's Twine that the charm is hanging from. Finally the sentiment is from the Welcome Baby Sentiments set by Raindrop Echo Designs. The flowers and the pearl stars are from Wild Orchid Crafts.

Whimsy Stamps October review

Hi everybody!!

 

If you've missed the winners to my blog candy, that's in the post below this one. I'd also like to ask you all again to vote for your favorite in the Fashionista Challenge. I'm in the top ten with my decorated Ruby Box and of course I would love to win but only if people think my card deserves to win so please, vote for whoever is your favorite.

 

Now it's time for the review of the October Whimsy Stamps release. I decided to use this adorable winter image by Crissy Armstrong named Sheltered love.

Isn't that image just precious? I really wanted to keep the card simple to show off the image so I framed the image with two corners that I cut using THIS die from Noor! by Joy Crafts. The sentiment is from the Holiday Notables 2 set by Raindrop Echo Designs. Then all I used on the card is some Aspen Frost 6x6 design paper by Basic Grey, Cherry Cobbler cardstock from Stampin Up that is finally available in The Netherlands and that I bought from Krista Huysman. I did some stitching by hand again and used some Viva Eiskristall that I threw in some Stardust Stickles. I'd like to thank Monique Lokhorst for this tip, I was at the Dutch KreaDoe fair this past weekend and when checking out the Magnolia booth  with all the gorgeous samples by their design team, I was drawn to her card that were glittering from a mile away. If you read this Monique, I ordered it from Doe-a-Ding and love it, thank you!

Birthday pile up for my FIL

Hi crafters out there!!

I'm back with another card. A few months back I decided I needed this cute stamp by Crissy Armstrong for Whimsy Stamps named Birthday Pile Up. I never got around to using it though and have been feeling bad about it ever since. So for my Father in Law's 68th birthday that's coming up next Friday I decided I needed to show this baby some love :).



The base of this is actually a round cd or dvd case I bought years ago. I had planned to use them as a prettier way of storing my stamps then I had done until then in those jewel cases but was very dissapointed to find out there was no inlay I could take out. The bottom has a sort of embossed part where you can put your cd or dvd over. So these have been lying around ever since. I have adhered some (ink distressed) design paper behind the clear window and on top of it and I have decorated it with some ribbon and some stars that I cut out with nestibility star shaped dies. The metal dots are from Hotfix and they have been attached with an applicator. Here is the image, as always colored with Copic Markers and 3D paper pieced:

Aren't they cute? I think these are perfect for any celebration. And when you open the case:

There is a decorated CD inside. I'm planning to write an invitation on the lighter orange part. What do you give a man who doesn't really need anything? Quality time with his son and grandchildren, and I get to go along for the ride ;). Just kidding, I have a very good relationship with my in laws and my father in law is a super granddad to my kids.

 This is the back, I kept the middle of the CD undecorated so it could be replaced in the case.
